APPLICATION PROCEDURE

If you are interested in applying for a Rockefeller fellowship, please submit to IRADAC no later than December 3rd:

  • A proposal of no more than 2500 words describing the research which you would pursue while in residence and explaining how it would relate to the larger goals of the project;
  • An up to date vita;
  • Representative samples of any related work which you have completed or are engaged in;
  • Three letters of recommendation;

Also, please be sure to indicate whether you are applying for a semester or a full-year fellowship, and if the former, for which semester. The full year fellowship runs from September to May and carries a stipend of $35,000, plus health benefits if necessary. The one semester fellowship runs from either September to December or February to May and carries a stipend of $17,000, plus health benefits if necessary. Bear in mind that New York living-costs are considerable and that should you receive a fellowship, you may need to supplement it with other sources of income (e.g. sabbatical pay from your home institution).

We expect to communicate final decisions regarding fellowship awards for the academic year 2002-2003 by March 1. Please feel free to contact Professor James de Jongh in the interim, however, regarding any questions you may have.

PROCEDURE FOR CUNY APPLICANTS

Each semester a limited number of internal CUNY fellows will participate in the regular activities of the research group. Internal fellows will also be involved in the selection of external fellows. To facilitate their participation in the research group, internal fellows will be supported with released time from one course for each semester they are involved with the project. Please note that the granting of this released time is conditional on the written concurrence of your department chair.

If you are interested in applying for status as an internal CUNY fellow, please submit to IRADAC no later than December 3rd:

  • A proposal of no more than 1500 words describing the research which you would pursue while in residence and explaining how it would relate to the larger goals of the project, and indicating whether you wish to be considered for participation during the fall 2002 semester, the spring 2003 semester, or both;
  • An up to date vita;
  • Representative samples of any related work which you have completed or are engaged in;

We expect to communicate final decisions regarding internal fellowship awards for the academic year 2002-2003 during the 2000-2001 intersession and to convene the internal fellows in February 2002 to make recommendations regarding the external fellow applications.
