President's and Provost's Faculty Awards 2014
Nominations for these awards are due March 28.
A uniform deadline and submission contact has been established for the awards this year to avoid confusion. All nominations received will be routed to the appropriate selection committee and office. Please submit nominations by March 14. They can be sent by email to email@example.com or by hard copy to the Office of the Provost, A-218 to the attention of Ms. Valerie Rutstein.
The President's Award for Excellence
This award recognizes both the creativity and commitment of a full-time faculty member and the impact that s/he has had on student learning through a combination of innovative approaches in mentoring, research, teaching and/or scholarship. Awards will be made annually to up to three faculty members who have demonstrated extraordinary service to students, to scholarship and to the College.
To be eligible for the award, the faculty member must have a minimum of five consecutive years of service with City College. A minimum of three recommendations must be received for consideration. The award includes a $5,000 honorarium.
President's Award for Outstanding Faculty Service
This award recognizes the importance of faculty participation in the governance of the institution and its significant impact on the College and the greater College community. Annually, up to ten awards will be presented to one faculty member in each School/Division, the Library and SEEK, whose outstanding service improves the College, its services and/or the greater College community. This award will recognize faculty members, who in addition to excellence in teaching and scholarly/creative work, serve City College and the City College community in a variety of ways. The intent of the award is to appropriately honor and recognize faculty members who demonstrate exceptional service with their contributions to the central mission of the College. Each area will set up a committee to review nominations for the award and make a recommendation to the Dean, Provost and President.
To be eligible for the award, the faculty member must have a minimum of five consecutive years of service with City College. Adjunct faculty may be nominated if they meet the years of service requirement. The award includes a $2,000 honorarium.
Provost's Outstanding Teaching Award
This award recognizes excellence in teaching as acknowledged by peers, current and past students. One award will be presented. Consideration for teaching excellence may also include the development of innovative and successful teaching methods or techniques, new courses or major course revisions and the development of quality textbooks, manuals and support materials. The award is open to all CCNY tenured and tenure-track faculty and lecturers. The award includes a $2,000 honorarium.
Provost's Prize for Pedagogical and Curricular Innovation
This award recognizes an individual faculty member or a faculty team which has a demonstrated significant positive impact on student learning and retention through pedagogical and curricular innovations.Projects should demonstrate originality and have potential for widespread replication. Project outcomes and impact must be supported by appropriate assessment data. The award is open to all CCNY tenured and tenure-track faculty and lecturers. The award includes a $2,000 honorarium.
Note: due to the creation of the expanded President's Award for Excellence, the Mentoring Award previously offered has been suspended.
