Prioritizing LEED Credits: Synergies, Economics and Applications
(A continuation of Building Sustainable Environments)

Saturday, December 8, 2007
9:00am - 6:00pm
ARC107 $299 7 LU
Attainment of a LEED rating by a building design involves the satisfaction of enough credits to achieve either a Certified, Silver, Gold or Platinum Building. All points under LEED, however, are not equal. For example, some points perform multiple functions such as vegetated (green) roofs that collect stormwater, save energy, reduce urban heat islands and can provide an important amenity. Various points also have initial costs ranging from almost nothing to substantial. Finally, the proper targeting of LEED points depends greatly upon building type. The goal of this course is to review LEED credits for their uniqueness, economies, and special applications. It will help one to assemble a LEED package for a building that is best suited and most cost-effective.
