How to become an officially recognized CCNY Student Club.

Students interested in starting or (re-introducing) a student club/organization at City College must follow these steps:

STEP ONE
As of the end of the Spring 2012 semester, Student Organizations at The City College of New York will be able to register their clubs online through an online Google form. This is one of the new way we have adopted to help student organizations manage their membership and improve communication within the organization as well as with the Office of Student Life & Leadership Development (OSLLD). Going forward we will be implementing some new ways of doing our everyday processes, our hope is that student leaders will have access to more efficient way of conducting business.

  • To participate in the current semester’s Club Registration process, you must attend a club orientation session at the beginning of the Fall semester.  To register, go to The Office of Student Life & Leadership Development (OSLLD), NAC 1/210 during September.  You can only register a new club/organization in the beginning of the Fall & Spring semesters.

STEP TWO
Make sure your club meets all these registration requirements:

  • Undergraduate students will need four executives with a GPA of at least 2.0.
  • All executives must be undergraduate students.
  • You will need a faculty or staff member to act as your faculty advisor.
  • All undergraduate organizations must have at least 15 full time registered members (in addition to four executives).
  • Graduate students will need four executives with a GPA of at least 3.0.
  • All executives must be graduate students.
  • You will need a faculty or staff member to act as your faculty advisor.
  • All graduate organizations must have at least 12 full time registered members (in addition to four executives).
  • Provide a copy of the organization's constitution (click here for a model).

STEP THREE

  • After you have registered with OSLLD and chartered with your respective student government, your club will be a legitimately recognized CCNY student organization as mandated by the CUNY Board of Trustees By-Laws, Article XV, Section 15.2.  Please keep in mind that this recognition is valid only during the Fall semester; next semester you must complete a renewal process with OSLLD.  If you do not complete this process, your club will not be recognized for the Spring.
  • Once you complete the process, a mailbox will be assigned to your club in the Student Life office, NAC 1/210.
