Building Bridges Networking Event
Networking matters. Alumni matter. Student success matters. Put it all together and you’ve got “Building Bridges," our annual alumni networking event.
Launched in April 2006, this annual event by the Ad/PR Program in conjunction with CCNY’s Public Relations Student Society (PRSSA) keeps alums plugged in and gives undergrads a vision of their future. On that very first evening so many years ago, more than 80 alumni and students mingled, networked, and shared their experiences. Back then, PRSSA executive board, headed by Stacy-Ann Edwards (’07) and Juliana Mazo (’06), organized the event held in Shepard Hall with a goal to start a tradition where Ad/PR students could interact with alumni, garnering real world advice and connections not found in textbooks and classrooms.
And what a success it's been! Since then, the event has united hundreds of Ad/PR students and alumni pros, such as Vu Chung, 00’, Havelock Nelson, '05, and Dana Mann, '06, Ad/PR alums. Attesting to the power of the event, Program Director Lynn Appelbaum says, “The best part is feeling the energy and connection between alumni and students. You could truly see how the MCA program has made a difference in our students lives.”
