CD-ROM Databases

1. PsycLit

PsycLit is a CD-ROM version of Psychological Abstracts.  It contains citations and abstracts to journal articles, and summaries of English-language chapters and books in psychology, as well as behavioral information from sociology, linguistics, medicine, law, psychiatry, and anthropology.  The PsycLit database is accessible from any of the LAN database workstations located in the Reference Area on the main floor of the Cohen Library.  Instructions for using the PsycLit database can be found at: http://www.ccny.cuny.edu/library/Databases/psyclit.html.

2. ProQuest

ProQuest has two databases: Periodical Abstracts - Research Edition II; and Social Sciences Index/Fulltext.  Periodical Abstracts contains abstracts and indexing to articles from over 1600 periodicals and a rolling block of the most recent six months of The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.   Social Sciences Index/Fulltext is a link to H.W. Wilson's Social Sciences Index.   It indexes 400 publications and provides the full image for approximately 200 of these.  ProQuest covers from 1986 to the current year and is updated monthly.  Access to the ProQuest databases is provided by two ProQuest workstations located in the Reference Area of the Cohen Library.  The CD-ROM disks, arranged in chronological order by numbers corresponding to the file and date of publication, that hold copies of the fulltext articles are stored in cabinets located adjacent to the ProQuest workstations.  Instructions for using ProQuest (User Guide No. 1) can be found in the User Guides rack located in front of the Information Desk on the main floor of the Cohen Library.
