For information on the CREST Annual symposium: http://www.crest.ccny.cuny.edu/symposium2013The 8th Annual NOAA CREST Symposium, hosted and organized by the CREST Institute on June 5-6, 2013 at the City College of New York, will address climate and environmental issues by bringing together CUNY, Columbia University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, and Stevens Institute of Technology to discuss climate vulnerability, assessment, mitigation, and adaptation, weather and atmosphere, resilient urban ecosystems and coastal communities, land and water resources, and what was learned from the region’s experience with Super Storm Sandy. Representatives from federal, state, and city agencies, climatologists, scientists, and media will come together for this two day event to discuss these important issues. This Symposium, with nearly 200 expected participants, is an initial effort to start an ongoing dialogue about the urban coastal environment and ecosystems, especially with respect to climate change and severe weather events. Future symposia and conferences will further this communication and help New York and New Jersey become more resilient in the future.
