FOMC honors Shafi Goldwasser and Silvio Micali for their contributions to the field Cryptography.

Faces of Modern Cryptography is a series of one-day conferences held under the auspices of the Center for Algorithms and Interactive Scientific Software (CAISS), a research center of The City College of New York, CUNY.  This year’s conference will be held in honor of Shafi Goldwasser and Silvio Micali, who were recently awarded the 2012 ACM A.M. Turing Award for their fundamental contributions to the science of Cryptography.

Besides being eminent scientists and pioneers of the field of Cryptography, Goldwasser and Micali have been outstanding mentors to a new generation of cryptographers and computer scientists.  To celebrate their legacy, the conference program features hour-long talks by four of their many former students.  The talks cover several cutting-edge research topics in Cryptography (obfuscation, verifiable computation, ..., and fully homomorphic encryption), as a testament to the depth and breadth of Goldwasser's and Micali's work.
