Lecture: "Not Even A Bench By The Road: Art, Freedom, and Sites of Slavery in the Age of Obama"Dr. Salamishah Tillet is an Associate Professor of English, University of Pennsylvania and a Scholar-in-Residence at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. Her book Sites of Slavery: Citizenship and Racial Democracy in the Post-Civil Rights Imagination (Duke UP, 2012) examines why and how African-American artists, writers, and intellectuals remember antebellum slavery within post-Civil Rights America.
