MDRC is a non-profit and was founded in 1974 by the Ford Foundation. It aids in finding solutions for widespread social issues like poverty reduction, social welfare, public housing, and economic sufficiency, among other things. They aim to use policy reform and evaluation of existing programs to help change the world a little at a time. Their main goals is to help low income, impoverished, at risk families improve their lives.
Marie-Andree Somers specializes in quantitative impact evaluation in the field of education. She is currently working on analysis of certain program components and has co-written several papers on her work. She holds a doctorate in education with a concentration in research methods from Harvard University and graduate degrees in economics and applied statistics from Oxford University.
