    City College Hosts “Somatic Voicework™ LoVetri Method” for Singing Teachers

    The City College of New York announces that Level I of  Somatic Voicework™ The LoVetri Method, a course for teachers of singing and singers, is being offered on May 16-18, 2014, on its Upper West Side Campus. Jeannette LoVetri will conduct the three-day course vocal pedagogy course during which Dr. Michael Pitman of the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary will deliver a 90-minute lecture on vocal health and hygiene. Ms. LoVetri will be assisted by Michelle Rosen, a Level III Somatic Voicework™ singing teacher and singer, who holds a master’s degree from NYU and is on the voice faculty of Rider University Westminster Choir College and The Brooklyn Youth Chorus Academy. Noted jazz vocalist and CCNY faculty member Carolyn Leonhart, will join the Annette Masson, from the University of Michigan Drama Department, who will facilitate movement classes, and Level I Coordinator and CCNY Voice Faculty, Suzanne Pittson, during the three day course. The faculty members will present a multi-style recital on the first evening.
    Somatic Voicework™ The LoVetri Method offers a codified and nationally recognized approach to vocal pedagogy for all styles of music that are called Contemporary Commercial Music (formerly non-classical) and presently has 1000 graduates from all over the USA and 12 foreign countries, many of whom hold doctorate degrees and are on college and conservatory faculties. Teachers of singing, singers, and those interested in the styles heard on American Idol, The Voice, and X Factor, are invited to attend.  LoVetri’s students have appeared on Broadway, at Carnegie Hall, and many jazz venues throughout the world as well as on TV, in film and have received Grammy awards and Tony nominations.
