Lecture on“The Wilderness in the Metropolis. From Manhattan to the Galapagos with Herman Melville.”
Carla Cappetti is a Professor of English at The City College of New York, CUNY, where she teaches American Literature and Literary Theory. Prof. Cappetti received her PhD from Columbia University. She is the author of Writing Chicago: Modernism, Ethnography, and the Novel (1993). She has published articles on Richard Wright, Zora Neale Hurston, the Federal Writer Project of the WPA, and Natalia Ginzburg.
Her articles have been published in AmerikaStudien/American Studies, the Modern Language Association Approaches to Teaching series, MELUS: Multi-Ethnic Literature of the United States, Acoma: Rivista Internazionale di Studi Nordamericani, Modern Fiction Studies, Against the Current, the European Writers series, The Twentieth Century, Rivista di Storia Contemporanea, Lavoro Critico. She is writing a book entitled The Beast in the Garden of American Literature.
