Center for Analysis of Structures and Interfaces (CASI)
Established in 1988 through a cooperative agreement with the National Science Foundation, CASI has two goals: to conduct exemplary research and to increase the number of minority scientists trained to conduct high-level research.
Research at CASI focuses on three areas: using light and its properties to study structural and dynamical processes of molecules absorbed on different surfaces; developing new materials with unique properties, made of small numbers of elements; and characterizing and engineering materials, using ultrafast laser techniques, for the light-based optical computers of the future.
