bio:
Gisela Sanders Alcántara began her career as a dancer. She received her BA at UAM in México. She was later introduced to the media industry while working as an Assistant Director in television in Mexico City. After realizing that she had a strong interest in both Dance and Media, she aimed to find a way to apply her experience in both fields.

Gisela soon after received two grants to direct a TV series for three years (1999-2001) called Al Borde del Cuerpo, Un Encuentro con los Creadores de la Danza (At Body's Edge: An Encounter with the Dance Creators). She documented the creative process of three different choreographers: Vicente Silva, Rossana Filomarino and Raul Parrao between. At the same time, she continued working as a cinematographer, filming professional dance performances. One of the dance pieces she filmed was honored at the International Contest of Choreography in Greece, Opus 2000 o la Esperanza (Opus 2000 or the Hope).

In the past two years, she has been exploring the world of documentary directing and editing several pieces, one of which was selected for special screening in the Bogotá Film Festival A foreign kiss in Times Square (2003). She is currently working as an Editor for the Cable Television Station, CUNY TV-Channel 75.
