Jodie Lea Higby, born and raised in Los Angeles, came to New York City
with her Bachelors of Art degree in filmmaking from California State University,
Northridge. She has worked on numerous films since she decided to pursue
filmmaking eight years ago. She directed Camp Pacific,
which screened in several film festivals as well as at Cannes as part
of the American Pavilion program. She also produced Vespertine,
which aired on Showtime last September. Jodie hopes to become a studio
executive for both coasts, as well as a producer and director for independent
films and documentaries. Jodie also hopes to open a non-profit organization,
Spark Light Foundation, to assist young filmmakers in their dreams and
to also promote the creation of deaf-filmmaking.
"Filmmaking is a power that cannot be abused. A filmmaker must hold
responsibility in their film which can empower or mislead society."
