Info for Faculty
There is no formal Honors Convocation this year; students who have been honored at this convocation will be honored at the individual school and divisions' ceremonies.
PROVIDING NAMES OF AWARDS/RECIPIENTS FOR INCLUSION IN THE PROGRAMS
FACULTY MARCHING WITH DEPARTMENTS
It is mandatory that each academic department be represented at graduation exercises by half of its full-time faculty members. The President and Provost request your cooperation in ensuring faculty attendance at this most important occasion for our students. Academic regalia must be worn in the ceremony.Each chair is requested to send a list, preferably by email, to Melinda Hamilton (mhamilton@ccny.cuny.edu) with names of members of your department who will participate in the academic procession not later than April 15. We will communicate with the marching faculty closer to Commencement by e-mail so please include their e-mail addresses along with their telephone extensions in your memo.
MARSHALS
We also need volunteers from the faculty and staff to commit to being marshals. This is a very important job, and it is crucial for the smooth functioning of commencement activities. The only time commitment involved for marshals prior to the day of Commencement is to attend a luncheon at noon on May 22nd, when we will review procedures and a rehearsal on May 30th at 11:00 a.m.
If you wish to volunteer to be a Marshal, please notify this office by email (mhamilton@ccny.cuny.edu) not later than April 11th to be listed in the Commencement Program, and include your telephone extension.REGALIA ORDERING
The deadline for your order is April 26th. Please note: There will be an additional service charge of $15 for late orders. The complete package is to be returned or the full replacement price will be charged.
Faculty who participate in commencement are required to pay for their own caps and gowns. However, the College will supply gowns for those who volunteer their services as marshals. Those wishing to wear individual hoods must order them for themselves.Herff Jones representatives will be in the Great Hall on Tuesday, April 23th from 12 noon to 4:00 pm and Wednesday, April 24th from 3 pm to 7:00 pm as part of the Graduate Salute to fit students and faculty for caps and gowns.
CWE faculty: Herff Jones will be at 25 Broadway on Thursday, April 25th from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm in the CWE auditorium.
Charges for the rental of cap, gown, tassel, and hood (including sales tax) are as follows:
- Master Cap, Gown, & Tassel: $23
- Master Hood: $20
- Doctoral Cap, Gown, & Tassel: $31
- Doctoral Hood: $22
REGALIA PICK-UP
NAC 1/211 – 11:30 am – 6:30 pm on the following dates:
