CUNY Dominican Studies Institute
Jessy Peréz is an Assistant Archivist in the Dominican Archives at the CUNY Dominican Studies Institute. Ms. Peréz surveys, appraises, accessions, processes, arranges, preserves, digitizes and provides access to archival materials relating to the Dominican population in the United States. She is responsible for reviewing, arranging, processing, and authoring descriptions for archival collections. In addition to her archivist duties, Ms. Peréz supervises the Archives' college assistants and volunteers.
Ms. Peréz processed the Rafael Petitón Guzmán Collection, an extraordinary personal collection of musical scores, photographs, and other memorabilia of the late Dominican composer and musician of the 1930s. She is currently working on the Normandía Maldonado Collection, the personal collection of one of the most distinguished Dominican folklorists and founder of Centro Cultural Ballet Quisqueya.
Ms. Pérez is a graduate of The City College of New York with a B.A. in Spanish and is pursuing the Master of Arts in Spanish Literature also at City College.
