The City College of New York, in collaboration with the College Now program, plans to conduct a program that will identify, nurture, and enroll talented, inquisitive, and motivated students in a six-week Summer Academy. The Academy is a multi-discipline program consisting of three academic enrichment components: Conservatory of Theatre Arts and Literacy; The Institute of Architectural Studies; The Teaching Collegium; and the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Institute (STEM). Conservatory of Theatre Arts and Literacy The Conservatory of Theatre Arts and Literacy is a rigorous curriculum for high school students entering the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grade in the fall of 2008 with an interest in theatre arts. Institute in Architectural Studies The Institute of Architectural Studies is a rigorous curriculum for high school students entering the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grade in the fall of 2008 with an interest in architecture and engineering design. The Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics Institute (STEM) The STEM Institute core curriculum is designed to introduce high achieving ethnically diverse high school sophomores and juniors to the various aspects of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The three academic enrichment components will be open to all City College College Now partner high schools on a priority basis and other New York City public high school students based on their academic record and interest. Admission criteria will include a review of each applicant's grade point average, courses completed, and the strength of the teacher recommendation and evaluation. The chart below provides a detailed description of the criteria which will be used by each program component. All students must submit a Summer Academy application, a copy of their transcript, and a recommendation from a sponsoring/recommending teacher, and proof of immunization.
