The Center for School Development provides:
Professional Development for Educators: The Center provides professional development for educators at all educational levels through graduate course offerings tailored to meet needs, as well as through workshops, institutes and conferences. We currently specialize in the area of technology integration in classrooms but, with working with City College School of Education faculty, we can build diverse professional development opportunities. Programs are designed to strengthen schools and promote educational reform. Ask about CULTUREQUEST and its importance in motivating children and preparing teachers to teach with technology. Other technology education and training is provided.
Programs for Youth: We provide programs for children at both City College and within their own school settings. These have included, most notably, a Mini-College for at-risk high school students; three academies at three large NYC high schools, and our current Upward Bound/Urban Scholars Program at the College. We also provide technology training for children and have created innovative programs such as the one which links preservice teachers with elementary school students in an Online Homework Helper Program.
