Rules and Procedures

PRINTING RULES
* Present your student log-in to lab monitor when submitting your print order.
* Only lab monitors and approved students are allowed in the print center.
No other students are allowed to use the printers.
* Place your files in the “print center” folder on labshare. This must be done in one of the labs.
* Fill out “work order to print” form: your name, name of file, fonts (if needed to load), and hand in a b&w proof..
* Each EDM student is allowed 6 laser prints and 6 inkjet prints daily. No “roll-over” prints! We document your print center use.
* If you need to print more than 6 prints, get written permission from your instructor in advance.
* Low-grade paper is supplied for both laser and inkjet printers. You provide your own high quality paper.
* Printers are to be used for EDM course projects. If a student is found printing non-course related materials their EDM account will be terminated.
* Students can request to purchase additional printing privileges as needed.
* Download Print Order form

PRINTING TIPS
* Print in advance: do not wait until the last moment to print. Print your project the day before it is due! No printing from 9-9:30 am or after 8:30 pm
* Plan to wait: the print center is on a first-come-first-serve system.
* You can either wait or drop your work off to get printed.
* Prepare your file in advance: Prepare your piece, do page setup and label your file clearly.
* Due to print limit, test strips are highly recommended.

WIDE FORMAT PRINTER RULES
* Approved students (STUDENTS ENROLLED IN DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY, or SENIOR THESIS) must have written approval from faculty for each print.
* Each approved student is allowed TWO 20 x 24” or one 24” x 40” per semester.
* Once the 24” x 40” print allotment is used, must purchase their own paper and may be required to pay for Ultrachrome Ink Cartridges (@ $50 per color) as needed.
* The printer may be operated by trained lab monitors and trained students only! (If a student is approved to print it does not mean they are authorized to operate the printer!) A list of approved students and trained students will be posted.
* No glossy or alternative paper (fabric, canvas, etc.)
* All tests should be printed on the smaller printer with a test strip on the large printer.
* The wide-format printer is for final prints only.
* Students approved to print must present IDs to lab monitor. * Trained students and trained lab monitors operating the printer must document all printer actions and orders in the Epson Log.For additional tips on preparing your files see: http://desktoppub.about.com/cs/prepresstechnique/a/send-files.htm
