OSD at 2M in the Grove School of Engineering (GSOE) works with each entering and transfer student to help you navigate the City College campus and ensure your successful transition to college life. To enhance your academic experience, we provide short-term personal counseling, and ongoing academic counseling, including guiding your registration and changing your major. We also offer free tutoring and scholarships, and support your academic and career development through and co-op and internship opportunities.
Beginning with a welcoming dinner in early May for accepted students, our Orientation program is designed to forge a sense of community between you and the Engineering faculty, especially since some of your early courses are taken outside GSOE. Orientation includes activities that will acquaint you with the habits of highly effective students, and helping you get to know other classmates quickly. Your upper-class peers will be on hand to greet you and encourage your participation in engineering clubs.
Each new and transfer student will meet one on one with an assigned advisor several times during the first semester, and the entire OSD staff stands ready to explore strategies leading to your personal and academic well-being and eventual GSOE graduation.
