Robert Dalva
Philosophy Major
City College Fellow

Robert Dalva, a native New Yorker, is pursuing a B.A. in Philosophy and a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Biology. He has received several undergraduate awards, including the Ketchum Prize for History of Philosophy and the Ward Medal for General Excellence in Philosophy. He also recently completed a research fellowship in philosophy at Stanford University. Although Robert arrived at City College by something of an accident, that accident has been among the most fortunate of his life: the school's course offerings, outstanding faculty, and diverse and accepting student body have helped him to both explore and develop, intellectually, and feel rather at home, personally.  Outside of his schoolwork, Robert has spent much of his free time studying the work of philosopher and activist Noam Chomsky, whose parallel engagement with his personal areas of interest, as an academic, and with issues of moral significance, as a public intellectual, provides what for him is a model future. Robert hopes to pursue doctoral studies in Philosophy, focusing on issues in the Analytic tradition: particularly on those that arise in the philosophy of language and mind.
