nterested in Studying Abroad?
CCNY offers Study Abroad and Exchange Programs around the world, to such locations as Morocco, El Salvador, Rwanda, and several destinations in Europe. Marina Fernando, Director of the International Studies program, manages the Study Abroad Office located in NAC 6/109B.
Denice Dorchak-Ochola, Denicean International Studies major, participated in CCNY's Service Learnng program in El Salvador in the summer of 2007, teaching ESL to university students at the Universidad Monsenor Oscar Arnulfo Romero (UMOAR) in Chalatenango, close to the Honduran border. The students there, who often walk miles to get to class, are often so poor that they need sponsors to pay the tuition of $270 per semester; CCNY's program developed out of such a sponsorship, and International Studies majors raise funds for their designated student through bake sales and donations in addition to serving as ESL teacher volunteers.
