About:
Adolfo Carrión, Jr. is the Bronx Borough President. Elected in 2001, he was re-elected in 2005. On July 1, 2007 he became the president of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials. Carrión graduated from Kings College then located in Westchester County, and earned a master’s degree in Urban Planning from Hunter College. Carrión has been a City Councilman representing the Bronx’s 14th District. As a member of the City Council, Carrión sat on the Economic Development, Education, Higher Education, Environmental Protection, Governmental Operations and Land Use committees. He was chairman of a special Subcommittee on the 2000 Census. Strongly interested in housing issues, the borough president has directed 40% of his 2007 capital funding to housing development. He has also been involved with redevelopment plans for the areas around the new Yankee Stadium.
