Peter Cook: Selected Bibliography

About:

After studying architecture at the Bournemouth College of Art, Peter Cook transferred to the Architectural Association in London, from which he graduated in 1960. He taught at the AA later in his career and became Chairman of the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, University College London. Best known perhaps as a founding member of Archigram in the 1960s, Cook also served as Director of the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London from 1970 to 1972. He was Bernard Tschumi’s partner for the overall planning and design of the Parc de la Villette in Paris. In 2000, Peter Cook and Colin Fournier won the international competition for the Kunsthaus Graz and established “Spacelab Cook-Fournier GmbH” in Graz. In 2002 he received RIBA's Gold medal (The Royal Institute of British Architects) together with the other five founding members of Archigram. This group influenced the way that architects looked at their relationship to pop culture and technology. Cook is hailed as a teacher and writer as well as a practitioner. His voluminous writings have focused on architectural theory.
