About:

A principal at Gwathmey Siegel & Associates Architects llc, Charles Gwathmey co-founded the NYC firm in 1968, which offers master planning, architectural, interior and product design services. The firm's award-winning designs span a wide range of commissions, among the most prominent of which is the Guggenheim Museum (NYC) restoration and addition, the MOCA Museum of North Miami, and the Cooper residence in Orleans, Massachusetts. Gwathmey was elected a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects in 1981. He is one of the five architects identified as The New York Five in 1969. He has also held faculty positions at Pratt Institute, Cooper Union, Princeton University, Columbia University, the University of Texas, and the University of California at Los Angeles. Additionally, he was Davenport Professor (1983 and 1999)and Bishop Professor(1991)at Yale, and the Eliot Noyes Visiting Professor at Harvard University (1985). Gwathmey received his masters of architecture from Yale where he was the top-ranking graduate and winner of a Fulbright Grant.
