About:
A visiting professor in the Master of Architecture Program at CCNY, G. Phillip Smith is a principal in Smith and Thompson Architects in New York City, a firm he co-founded in 1975. Smith's credits include work at Twin Parks Housing (Bronx) and the Newark Airport Terminal, Newark, N.J. His firm has also done a number of residences, offices, and commercial buildings and has won AIA Project Awards (1998 & 2000) for the design of the Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art (Staten Island) and a 1989 Beaux Arch Award for Design of the Kleeb Residence (East Hampton,NY). Smith earned his Master of Architecture from Columbia University and won traveling fellowships to Japan, India, and Nepal. As a visiting critic and reviewer, he has worked at Columbia University, Lehigh University, Parsons Institute, and the New York Institute of Technology. Smith is also Founding and Participating Member in the Urbino, Italy International Design Symposium.
