Anne Whiston Spirn: Selected Bibliography


About:

The multi-faceted Anne Whiston Spirn is an author, photographer, landscape architect, and planner. She is Professor of Landscape Architecture and Planning at MIT and a member of the Department of Urban Studies and Planning and the Department of Architecture. She has taught at Harvard and at the University of Pennsylvania, where she chaired the Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning. Spirn is the youngest person and the first woman to win the International Cosmos Prize, awarded annually by the Expo 90 Commemorative Foundation for "research work that has achieved excellence and is recognized as contributing to a significant understanding of the relationships among living organisms, the interdependence of life and the global environment and the common nature integrating these inter-relationships."
