Growing up in New England, award-winning novelist Russell Banks draws inspiration for his writing from his working class roots and experiences in the region's small towns, hard hit by economic decline.
A prolific writer of fiction, his titles include: Searching for Survivors, Family Life, Hamilton Stark, The New World, The Book of Jamaica, Trailerpark, The Relation of My Imprisonment, Continental Drift, Success Stories, Affliction, Rule of the Bone, The Sweet Hereafter and CloudSplitter.
Both The Sweet Hereafter and Affliction have been made into major motion pictures, and three more of his works will soon follow. Mr. Banks' newest novel, The Angel on the Roof, is due for release in June.
