At the June New York State Library Assistants' Association (NYSLAA) 29th
Annual Conference in Norwich, NY, Ms. Rita Gregory, CCNY Library staffer,
received the Craig Koste Award for Outstanding Service.
Ms. Gregory, a founding member of the METRO Library Assistants, Support Staff
& Associates Special Interest Group, was nominated by METRO for the award for
her 35 years of service to the City College Libraries and for her efforts to
promote professional development for library support staff. Ms. Gregory was
also lauded for attaining her educational goal —completing her master's degree
in Library Science at Queens College in 2004, while also serving as a shop
steward for Local 384 at City College.
Ms. Gregory works in serials management in the Technical Services division of
Cohen Library, and also serves as an Adjunct Reference Librarian at Bronx
Community College.
Ms. Gregory's award is accompanied by a $100 check to the City College
Libraries to be used for collection development.
The City College Libraries and the Bridge to Asia Foundation have collaborated to send 14,156 volumes in two sea containers to Nankai University Library in Tianjin, China.
