IMG_0025web_1

The Learning & Technology Resource Center (LTRC) supports the School of Education's goal in preparing teacher candidates with the skills and competencies to meet the challenges of the urban classroom. The Center focuses, primarily, on improving the academic performance of the teacher candidates, hence, it informs, supports, and prepares candidates for the New York Teacher Certification State Examinations. It provides workshops, orientations, and information sessions at various stages of the candidates' progress through their academic program. It therefore supports the school's leadership in preparing candidates to become qualified, competent, and effective professional teachers and leaders.

The LTRC helps to fulfill the College's mission to ensure teacher candidates are competent in the use of new technologies. The Center continues to provide candidates access to new technologies to develop their skills in the utilization and integration of technologies in the teaching and learning process. In various courses, workshops, and through open access, candidates acquire valuable skills to integrate technology in their instruction, to motivate students, and to make learning more effective. The Center supports faculty efforts to integrate technology by affording greater access to technology and opportunities to use these technologies in the instructional process.

The LTRC plays a critical role in the School of Education assessment system. The Center conducts surveys and course evaluations, performs assessments, and disseminates evaluations and reports to the School of Education. The Center staff is responsible for monitoring the use of Taskstream, the web-based platform used for conducting performance assessment in the School of Education. The Center organizes and conducts workshops and orientations for teacher candidates and faculty in the use of this data management tool. Moreover, this management tool will play an important role in the performance assessment of clinical practice in the newly revised NY state teacher certification requirements.
