ABOUT
Lumières
The French Language and Cultural Center at CCNY,
Founded in the Spring 2002, with a generous grant from
The Florence Gould Foundation.
Lumières
is an on and off-campus center focusing on Arts and Literature, opened
to anyone interested in French and Francophone cultures. Its aim
is to foster a sense of community among people whose native language
is French and to create opportunities for others to practice their
French!
The
center welcomes individuals to participate into the weekly scheduled
“forum de discussions” following activities such as
reading magazines, newspapers, listening to French radio programs, watching videos,
TV 5 or learning French songs. It also encourages anyone to send
reviews, original poetry and visuals for our new on-line French newsletter
: “La Gazette-Filage d’Idées”.
Lumières
offers different Ateliers, weekly Workshops in acting, multi-media,
music, and week-end Language seminars “Parler au quotidien”,
geared as preparation for traveling to French
speaking countries.
