Lynn Appelbaum has been a public relations professional for more than 20 years, working in both the public and private sectors in media relations, strategic planning and communications. Professor Appelbaum came to City College in 1993, where she teaches public relations courses in the Advertising/Public Relations specialization. She organized the College's first chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America in 1996 and serves a faculty advisor. Prior to coming to City College, Professor Appelbaum served as Press Manager for NBC News "Today" show, Director of Public Affairs and The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, and Marketing Director of Merkin Concert Hall and the Lucy Moses Art Center in Manhattan. She continues to serve as a consultant to institutions such as The New York Public Library, MSNBC, the Hudson Guild, among others. She serves on the Executive Board of Directors of the Public Relations Society of America New York chapter, in addition to serving on PRSA Diversity Committee. She is also a member of (WEPR) Women Executives in Public Relations. She holds a BM from Ithaca College and MA in Arts Administration from Indiana University.
