NEW YORK, October 20, 2005 - The six year-old Director's View Film Festival will hold its first event at its new home, The City College of New York in Harlem, October 20 – 23.

For six years, the Director's View had been based in Fairfield County, Connecticut, but now will be based on The City College campus.

The festival kicks off 7:30 p.m. Thursday, October 20, with the presentation of the Roy W. Dean Film Grant.  The grant, a combination of in-kind and cash funding allows a filmmaker to complete a film already in progress.  This international award has been instrumental in allowing filmmakers to finish films that have gone on to win awards around the world.

On Saturday and Sunday (October 22 - 23) screenings will take place in Shepard Hall (Convent Ave. and 139th St.).  Screenings will begin at noon both days and continue until 8 p.m. Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday, when the independent awards will be presented.  Previous award winners at the Director's View include Sidney Lumet, Arthur Penn, James Ivory and Bob Benton.

There is no charge for any of this year’s events.  All screenings are free to the public as a way to introduce the festival to the community.  The festival is presented by the Picker Film Institute of the CCNY Media & Communication Arts Department and co-sponsored by Palladin Pictures LLC.
