NEW YORK, February 15, 2006 – The City College of New York has appointed Joseph A. Fantozzi, an administrator with extensive student recruitment and counseling experience in The City University of New York (CUNY) system, Director of Admissions, CCNY Provost Zeev Dagan announced today.

Mr. Fantozzi joins The City College from Queens College, where he served as Associate Director of Admissions. 

“The College is proud to have attracted an accomplished professional with Mr. Fantozzi’s experience for this important position,” Provost Dagan said. “He will play a vital role in furthering our growth at a time when our enrollment and academic standards are rising.”

Mr. Fantozzi began his career at Hunter College in 1981. He served in various capacities there, including Assistant Director of Admissions, Associate Director of Admissions responsible for Recruitment and Outreach, and Director of Pre-Admission Services and Scholarship Programs. He moved to Queens College in 2003.  

CCNY, Queens College and Hunter are among the 11 senior colleges in CUNY, the nation’s leading urban university with over 450,000 students.

A resident of Massapequa, Mr. Fantozzi graduated from York College, another CUNY institution, with a BA in music education in 1980. 

His professional affiliations include the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, the Middle States Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers and the National Association for College Admission Counseling.
