Center For Worker Education Becoming Lower Manhattan Cultural Destination

U.S. Debut Set for Professor Krakowski’s “Looking for Palladin”
Professor Andrzej Krakowski’s feature film, “Looking for Palladin,” will make its U.S. theatrical debut October 30, when it begins a two-week exclusive East Coast engagement at New York’s Cinema Village, located at 22 E. 12th Street in Manhattan. One week later, it will open at Leammle’s Music Hall Cinema in Beverly Hills, Calif.

New Book On Edwin Blashfield Features CCNY Mural
“The Graduate,” the Edwin Howland Blashfield mural that adorns the stage of City College’s Great Hall, is featured in a new book about the painter to be released September 28. In addition to a write-up about the mural, which was painted on The Great Hall’s curved front wall, a color photo of the painting appears both inside and on the book’s rear jacket.

CCNY To Dedicate Spitzer School Of Architecture's New Home September 16
The City College of New York (CCNY) will hold a ceremony and reception to dedicate the new home of The Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, in the building’s atrium gallery. The facility, the first new academic building on the CCNY campus since 1982, opened for classes at the start of the fall 2009 semester.

President Williams Kicks Off Lecture Series At CCNY Center For Worker Education

CCNY Appoints NYPD Veteran Steven Harris Director Of Security And Public Safety
NEW YORK, August 13, 2009 – Steven L. Harris, a 25-year veteran of the New York City Police Department (NYPD), has been appointed Director of Security and Public Safety for The City College of New York (CCNY). In addition, Douglas M. White, a member of the CCNY Office of Public Safety since 1992, has been promoted to Deputy Director from Lieutenant. The appointments, effective August 10, were announced by CCNY President Gregory H. Williams.

CCNY Hosts Northern Manhattan Photo Exhibit
City College’s Compton-Goethals Art Gallery will host “Economy,” an exhibition of 58 photographs by members of the Northern Manhattan Photography Group (NOMA Photo), Wednesday, July 8, through Wednesday, July 22. Exhibit hours are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays and 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Thursdays. The Compton-Goethals Art Gallery is located on Amsterdam Avenue between 139th and 140th Streets.

CCNY Faculty, Alumni Join World Science Festival
The City College of New York will be well represented at the World Science Festival, which runs June 10 – 14, with some of CCNY’s prominent scientists and alumni participating in the program. More than 100 experts on network and telecommunications security from academia, government and industry attended a two-day conference on Cyber Infrastructure Protection: Policy and Strategy, June 4 – 5. CCNY Adult & Continuing Education Helps Brigde Digital Divide Through Computer Training In Public Housing
NEW YORK, April 28, 2009 – Helping to bridge the digital divide for some of New York’s poorer and older citizens, The City College of New York (CCNY) Adult & Continuing Education program is providing computer training and GED classes at 15 New York City public housing complexes under a three-year, $600,000 contract with the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA).
