    With visiting and permanent exhibits and public lectures throughout the school year, The City College of New York’s (CCNY) Center for Worker Education (CWE) is rapidly becoming an artistic and cultural destination in Lower Manhattan.  The Center, located at 25 Broadway, is home to the College’s Division of Interdisciplinary Studies, which sponsors the exhibits and lectures, which are free and open to the public.

  • U.S. Debut Set for Professor Krakowski’s “Looking for Palladin”

    Professor Andrzej Krakowski’s feature film, “Looking for Palladin,” will make its U.S. theatrical debut October 30, when it begins a two-week exclusive East Coast engagement at New York’s Cinema Village, located at 22 E. 12th Street in Manhattan. One week later, it will open at Leammle’s Music Hall Cinema in Beverly Hills, Calif.

  • New Book On Edwin Blashfield Features CCNY Mural

    “The Graduate,” the Edwin Howland Blashfield mural that adorns the stage of City College’s Great Hall, is featured in a new book about the painter to be released September 28.  In addition to a write-up about the mural, which was painted on The Great Hall’s curved front wall, a color photo of the painting appears both inside and on the book’s rear jacket.

  • CCNY To Dedicate Spitzer School Of Architecture's New Home September 16

    The City College of New York (CCNY) will hold a ceremony and reception to dedicate the new home of The Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, in the building’s atrium gallery.  The facility, the first new academic building on the CCNY campus since 1982, opened for classes at the start of the fall 2009 semester.

  • Acclaimed Writers Julia Alvarez, Rhina Espaillat Donate Books To CUNY Dominican Studies Institute Library At CCNY

    NEW YORK, August 25, 2009 – The CUNY Dominican Studies Institute (CUNYDSI) at The City College of New York (CCNY) recently received collections of books from well-known Dominican writers Julia Alvarez and Rhina Espaillat.  The donations include complete collections of the authors’ published writings as well as several books from their personal libraries on topics related to the history, society and culture of the Dominican Republic.

  • President Williams Kicks Off Lecture Series At CCNY Center For Worker Education

    NEW YORK, August 21, 2009 – CCNY President Gregory H. Williams inaugurates the Center for Worker Education’s Book Talk lecture series, which runs August 31 through December 14.  All lectures are free and open to the public and begin at 6 p.m.  They will be held in the CWE auditorium, located on the seventh floor at 25 Broadway in Lower Manhattan.

    The NOAA-CREST Center, based at The City College of New York (CCNY), is hosting the sixth annual Cooperative Research Symposium for NESDIS Cooperative Institutes, Tuesday, August 18, and Wednesday, August 19.  The two-day event brings together representatives from Cooperative Institutes and individual schools supported by NOAA’s National Environmental Satellite, Data & Information Service (NESDIS) to share recent research and highlight the work of graduate students and post-docs.

  • CCNY Appoints NYPD Veteran Steven Harris Director Of Security And Public Safety

    NEW YORK, August 13, 2009 – Steven L. Harris, a 25-year veteran of the New York City Police Department (NYPD), has been appointed Director of Security and Public Safety for The City College of New York (CCNY).  In addition, Douglas M. White, a member of the CCNY Office of Public Safety since 1992, has been promoted to Deputy Director from Lieutenant.  The appointments, effective August 10, were announced by CCNY President Gregory H. Williams.
