  • Harry Belafonte to Deliver CCNY Black History Month Keynote Address

    Harry Belafonte, the veteran entertainer, actor and social activist, will deliver The City College of New York’s Black History Month keynote address, 4:30 p.m., February 24, in Aaron Davis Hall’s Marian Anderson Theater. His talk will be entitled “Freedom and the 21st Century.”

  • Conference to Explore NMR Spectroscopy Discoveries

    The City College of New York will host an all-day conference Wednesday, March 23, to explore groundbreaking discoveries made through the use of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.  The event features presentations by seven distinguished scientists on how they applied NMR spectroscopy to study the three-dimensional arrangement of atoms in complex bio-molecules and the motions and interactions that are important to their functioning.

  • Dr. Jeffrey Gordon Delivers 2010 Cosloy-Blank Lecture

    Dr. Jeffrey I. Gordon, M.D., will deliver the 5th Annual Sharon Cosloy-Edward Blank Lecture at The City College of New York 4 p.m. Wednesday, December 8.  His topic will be “The human gut microbiome: dining in with trillions of friends.”  The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will take place in Room 250, Shepard Hall, and will be followed by a reception in Room 150, Shepard Hall.

  • Nobel Laureate Mario Vargas Llosa Speaks at CCNY November 18

    Mario Vargas Llosa, the 2010 Nobel Laureate in Literature, will deliver The City College of New York’s President’s Lecture 5:30 p.m. Thursday, November 18, in the Great Hall of Shepard Hall on the CCNY campus at 160 Convent Avenue, Manhattan.  Prior to his address, CCNY President Lisa Staiano-Coico will bestow upon him the honorary degree Doctor of Letters.

  • Marian Seldes, Eli Wallach to Receive CCNY Alumni Finley Award

    Veteran actors Marian Seldes and Eli Wallach will receive the 63rd John H. Finley Award for exemplary service to the city from The Alumni Association of The City College of New York at its 130th Annual Dinner, Thursday, October 28 at the New York Hilton.  The Finley award, named for CCNY’s third President, is presented annually to deserving New Yorkers.
