  • NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION AWARDS CCNY-LED TEAM $2.4 MILLION TO CREATE ELEMENTARY PHYSICAL SCIENCE CURRICULA

    NEW YORK, September 11, 2007 – Early exposure to scientific concepts such as matter and energy has long-term beneficial effects on students’ ability to excel in science later in their academic careers, researchers have found. But many American elementary school children, especially in poorer districts, receive little, if any, instruction in science, especially physical science.

    NEW YORK, August 20, 2007 - The Survival of the Mayas, a 45-piece photographic exhibition produced by Spain’s Fundación Sophia, opens September 17, at The City College of New York (CCNY) Center for Worker Education (CWE).   • CCNY, MEMORIAL SLOAN-KETTERING TEAM RECEIVES $1.36 MILLION FOR BREAST CANCER RESEARCH USING NEAR-INFRARED LIGHT

    NEW YORK, July 9, 2007 – A team of researchers from The City College of New York (CCNY) and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) has received a grant of $1.36 million over four years from the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command Breast Cancer Research Program to evaluate whether near-infrared light can be used to detect and diagnose breast cancer and assess tumor aggressiveness.

  • CCNY ADVERTISING/PR MAJORS SAL LOMBARDO AND MORGAN SCHREIBER WIN ‘ONE SHOW’ CLIENT PITCH COMPETITION

    NEW YORK, May 18, 2007 – Sal Lombardo and Morgan Schreiber, seniors majoring in advertising and public relations at The City College of New York (CCNY) were awarded first prize in the One Show Client Pitch Competition. The CCNY team bested 11 other entrants from such schools as University of Texas, Southern Methodist University and VCU Adcenter, to earn the $2,000 first prize. The judging was held May 10 in New York.
