CCNY RESEARCHERS SHED NEW LIGHT ON ROLE OF THYMIC ‘NURSE’ CELLS IN DEVELOPMENT OF T-CELLS
NEW YORK, June 13, 2007 – The functioning of thymic nurse cells, which take up other cells known as thymocytes into their bodies, has challenged scientists for decades. Research by Professor of Biology Jerry Guyden and colleagues at The City College of New York (CCNY) sheds new light on the important role they play in the development of T-cells, one of the body’s primary defenses against viruses.

NEW YORK, June 7, 2007 – Ruben Ramirez, ’05, and Hrvoje Slovenc, ’07, both of whom studied photography at The City College of New York (CCNY), have been named 2007-08 Mortimer Hays-Brandeis Traveling Fellows. They will each receive $16,000 toward travel and living expenses for up to a year of field work outside the United States related to independent research in the visual arts.

CCNY ADVERTISING/PR MAJORS SAL LOMBARDO AND MORGAN SCHREIBER WIN ‘ONE SHOW’ CLIENT PITCH COMPETITION
NEW YORK, May 18, 2007 – Sal Lombardo and Morgan Schreiber, seniors majoring in advertising and public relations at The City College of New York (CCNY) were awarded first prize in the One Show Client Pitch Competition. The CCNY team bested 11 other entrants from such schools as University of Texas, Southern Methodist University and VCU Adcenter, to earn the $2,000 first prize. The judging was held May 10 in New York.
