BIOS OF CCNY’S 161ST COMMENCEMENT HONOREES
NEW YORK, May 21, 2007 – The following are brief bios of philanthropist Larry Gralla ’51, Austrian educator Hans Matzenauer, Nobel Prize-winning chemical engineer Mario José Molina and Josh S. Weston, a 1950 CCNY graduate and former Chairman and CEO of Automatic Data Processing (ADP), who will all be honored at The City College of New York’s 161st Commencement Exercises, Friday, June 1, 2007.

CCNY ADVERTISING/PR MAJORS SAL LOMBARDO AND MORGAN SCHREIBER WIN ‘ONE SHOW’ CLIENT PITCH COMPETITION
NEW YORK, May 18, 2007 – Sal Lombardo and Morgan Schreiber, seniors majoring in advertising and public relations at The City College of New York (CCNY) were awarded first prize in the One Show Client Pitch Competition. The CCNY team bested 11 other entrants from such schools as University of Texas, Southern Methodist University and VCU Adcenter, to earn the $2,000 first prize. The judging was held May 10 in New York.

JOURNALIST ZUNILDA FONDEUR DONATES HISTORIC COLLECTION TO DOMINICAN ARCHIVES OF CUNY DOMINICAN STUDIES INSTITUTE AT CCNY
NEW YORK, May 16, 2007 – New York’s renowned cable TV program producer and host Zunilda Fondeur has donated to the Dominican Archives of the CUNY Dominican Studies Institute at The City College of New York her collection of approximately 5,000 videotapes, covering a span of more than 17 years, from her show “Realidades,” an iconic program with hundreds of thousands of New York viewers.

CCNY GRAD ISRAEL GONZALEZ RECEIVES 2007 SALK SCHOLARSHIP
NEW YORK, May 15, 2007 – Israel Gonzalez, who graduated from The City College of New York (CCNY) with a B.S. in Biology in September 2006, was awarded a Salk Scholarship from The City University of New York (CUNY) at an awards ceremony today at Baruch College. He is one of eight CUNY students to receive the prestigious award this year, which carries an $8,000 stipend for medical school.

CCNY CONCRETE CANOE WINS METROPOLITAN REGION COMPETITION
NEW YORK, May 15, 2007 -- The Shepard, a concrete canoe designed and built by civil engineering majors at The City College of New York (CCNY), won the Metropolitan Region Competition held on Lake Kandle in Sewell, New Jersey. The victory qualified CCNY for the 20th annual National Concrete Canoe Competition (NCCC), June 14 – 16 in Seattle.

CCNY SUMMER TRANSPORTATION INSTITUTE OFFERS FOUR-WEEK PROGRAM FOR NEW YORK CITY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
NEW YORK, June 13, 2007 – The award-winning City College of New York’s (CCNY) Summer Transportation Institute (STI) will offer a 4-week summer program for students at New York City public and private high schools interested in learning about the transportation industry. CCNY HISTORY PROFESSOR BETH BARON NAMED CARNEGIE SCHOLAR
NEW YORK, May 3, 2007 – Beth Baron, Professor of History at The City College of New York (CCNY) and CUNY Graduate Center, is one of 21 Middle East specialists named 2007 Carnegie Scholars by the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the philanthropic foundation established by 19th Century steel magnate Andrew Carnegie. The award carries a grant of $100,000 over two years.
