CCNY HOSTS SYMPOSIUM ON ‘FUTURE OF URBAN TRANSPORTATION’
NEW YORK, May 11, 2007 – The City College of New York will host a symposium on “The Future of Urban Transportation” 12:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 18, in Aronow Theatre in the North Academic Center building. The event celebrates the ongoing contributions of Distinguished Professor Robert E. Paaswell to transportation research, education and practice on the occasion of his 70th Birthday.

CCNY SENIOR JESSICA TIBBETS WINS FULBRIGHT SCHOLARSHIP

CCNY HISTORY PROFESSOR BETH BARON NAMED CARNEGIE SCHOLAR
NEW YORK, May 3, 2007 – Beth Baron, Professor of History at The City College of New York (CCNY) and CUNY Graduate Center, is one of 21 Middle East specialists named 2007 Carnegie Scholars by the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the philanthropic foundation established by 19th Century steel magnate Andrew Carnegie. The award carries a grant of $100,000 over two years.

CCNY RECEIVES $6 MILLION NIH GRANT TO FUND DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH BY NINE PROFESSORS
NEW YORK, April 25, 2007 – The City College of New York (CCNY) has been awarded a four-year, $6 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for continued participation in the Institute of General Medical Sciences’ SCORE program. The award is the second renewal for CCNY, which received its first SCORE grant in 1999.

CCNY PHYSICIST HERNÁN MAKSE RECEIVES $680,000 NSF GRANT TO STUDY ‘DYNAMICS OF SOCIAL NETWORKS’
NEW YORK, April 12, 2007 – A physicist at The City College of New York (CCNY) contends that the principles used to explain the organization of complex networks in matter can also be used to study the organization of social networks. CCNY Associate Professor Hernán Makse was recently awarded a three-year $680,000 grant from the National Science Foundation for just that purpose.
