CCNY RECEIVES $9.6 MILLION FROM SKADDEN, ARPS TO LAUNCH LANDMARK PROGRAM TO PROMOTE DIVERSITY IN LEGAL PROFESSION

CCNY DISTINGUISHED PROFESSOR ROBERT R. ALFANO RECEIVES 2008 CHARLES HARD TOWNES AWARD FROM OPTICAL SOCIETY OF AMERICA

ALUMNUS, COMEDY WRITER MICHAEL “MICKEY” ROSS GIVES $10 MILLION TO ESTABLISH JEWISH STUDIES CENTER AT CCNY
NEW YORK, April 10, 2008 – The City College of New York (CCNY) has announced that it has received a $10 million gift from Michael “Mickey” Ross, an alumnus and writer/producer for three of the most popular television sitcoms of the 1970s, to establish the Michael and Irene Ross Center for Jewish Studies. The gift was announced last night by President Gregory H. Williams following a lecture by Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel in the College’s Great Hall.

However, surface snowmelt in Antarctica for 2008 was 40 percent below the average for 1987 – 2007, according to research by Dr. Marco Tedesco, Assistant Professor of Earth and Atmospheric Science at The City College of New York.
