CCNY’S 155th COMMENCEMENT SET FOR JUNE 1          
CONGRESSMAN CHARLES RANGEL AND ACTRESS RITA MORENO TO BE HONORED

Harlem Representative Charles B. Rangel, one of the most senior members of the United States Congress, and award-winning actress Rita Moreno, will be the honorees at City College’s 155th Commencement Exercises on Friday, June 1, 2001.  The ceremony will begin at 10 AM, at CCNY’s Herman Goldman Center, 133rd Street and Convent Avenue, Manhattan.

The Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester has established the Ron Carter Audio Archive and Collection in its Sibley Music Library, the largest academic music library in the world.

Over $500,000 Raised by CCNY’s Publishing Certificate Program 

City College’s Publishing Certificate Program (PCP) recently hosted a reception  at The Central Park Arsenal to thank donors and to honor CCNY students who were named BookExpo America Interns and Bernard Mazel 2001 Opportunity Scholars.  The Publishing Certificate Program is a pioneering effort to increase the number of underrepresented minorities in the publishing industry.

IRADAC HOSTS “ESSENCE OF FAMILY” ART EXHIBIT
“The Essence of Family: Struggle, Triumph, and Color,” is the title of a six-week exhibition by visual artist Aleathia Brown, which will run through June 30, 2001, at the CUNY Institute for Research on the African Diaspora in the Americas and the Caribbean (IRADAC) at City College.

CCNY’s Student-Athletes Post Strong Finishes and Receive CUNYAC Conference Recognition
City College student-athetes Kishel John (women’s fencing), Dexter Wilson (men’s outdoor track) and David Linton (men’s outdoor track) closed out a fine varsity season for the CCNY athletic teams. John was named a 2001 CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Scholar Athlete Honorable Mention; while Wilson and Linton had first-place finishes at the CUNYAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at York College.
