    Annie Linda Khan has taught World Civilization 101 (Antiquity to the 1400s) and 102 (1500s to the present) in the History Department of the City College of New York from 1997 to 2002 when she left to enter the PhD program in History (Latin American and Anglophone Caribbean) at Stony Brook University. At Stony Brook, she was a Teaching Assistant for Africana Studies (AFS) 239: Introduction to Caribbean History and History 213: Colonial Latin America from 2002 to 2005.

  • Research Interests

    Her teaching and research interests focus on issues of slavery, popular politics and resistance in Latin America, the Anglophone Caribbean and the Atlantic World.

    Her d    issertation project, The Demerara Rebellion, 1823: An Exploration of Slave Culture explores how slaves' religious rites and practices intermixed with imperial LMS brand of Christianity helped to nurture their political consciousness which ultimately translated into revolutionary activities in 1823.
