    Teaching Philosophy
There is no better way to sharpen your communication skills, enrich your imagination, and deepen your emotional life than by studying acting. My class focuses on the basic principles of acting through improvisation, theatre games, and text and character analysis. This type of training exposes students to the joy of performing while simultaneously introducing them to the idea that acting is a craft that can be mastered through hard work and diligence. Over the course of the semester, students will be introduced to various schools of thought regarding the techniques of acting. The first half of the semester will be devoted to improvisation and games. The second half of the semester will be devoted to monologues and scene study where students will learn how to break a script down into units and objectives. I believe that theatre is a precious gift we offer to an audience. This is why my class culminates with students performing scenes in front of a live audience. By allowing students the opportunity to perform in front of others, they walk away from the class with a full understanding of the process, and a newfound appreciation of the art of acting.
