Profile
John Gillooly specializes in the cultural and intellectual history of the twentieth century U.S. He is currently writing a book on how and why so many American intellectuals of the 1950s came to obsessively worry about the ostensible threats which mass culture posed to “high culture,” democratic institutions, and their own self-image as cultural arbiters.
