About the Authors
Lynn Appelbaum APR, Associate Professor, Chair, Department of Media & Communication Arts at The City College of New York Lynn Appelbaum joined the City College of New York in 1993, where she is chair of the Department of Media & Communication Arts. She organized and advises its PRSSA chapter. A major proponent of fostering diversity, she helped create the Fleishman Hillard Multi-Cultural Intern Scholarships 1994-96.Before her academic career, Appelbaum managed media relations for NBC News “Today,” and was Public Affairs Director for Cooper Union. She continues to consult for agencies and non-profit organizations. Currently serving on the PRSA-NY Board of Directors, Appelbaum has received the Chapter’s Dorf Mentoring Award in 1999 and has written about mentoring in PRSA’s Strategist. |

Rochelle Ford Ph.D., APR, Assistant Professor, Advertising and PR Sequence Coordinator, Howard University Dr. Rochelle Larkin Ford, APR, assistant professor, teaches public relations, serves as the advertising/PR sequence coordinator at her alma mater, Howard University, and advises its PRSSA Chapter. An award-winning scholar, she has published work on diversity and public relations pedagogy. She writes a column “Diversity Dimensions” for Public Relations Tactics. Dr. Ford has spoken at national conferences for PRSA, BPRS and AEJMC and has presented to such organizations as Edelman Public Relations and University of Maryland. Her consulting clients have included Colabours Communications and Cordy & Company. She holds a MA from University of Maryland and a PHD from Southern Illinois. |
