Maritsa Poros
Associate Professor

Maritsa Poros recently joined the Department of Sociology at City College after teaching at the Illinois Institute of Technology for three years. A specialist in international migration, race, ethnicity, urban sociology, inequality, work, and labor markets, Dr. Poros earned her Bachelors degree in Psychology and Spanish at Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1990, and her Masters and Ph.D. in Sociology at Columbia University in 1995 and 2001. Her recent publications include “Networks of Inclusion and Exclusion in the Economic Concentrations of Asian Indian Immigrants in New York and London” in Nancy Di’Tomaso and Corinne Post, eds. Research in the Sociology of Work, 2004; and “the Role of Migrant Networks in Linking Local Labour Markets: The Case of Asian Indian Migration to New York and London,” Global Networks, 2001.
