
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
A. Current, full-time, matriculated Student Support Services (SSSP) student
B. Minimum Grade Point Average 3.00
C. Upper Sophomore and above (61+) including this spring semester
D. Must be enrolled in a major.
NEED TO SUBMIT:
A. Letter of Recommendation from counselor or faculty
B. Personal Statement of not more than TWO double-spaced pages addressing:
1. Extracurricular & community and voluntary involvement
2. Academic Obstacles and Achievements
3. Career Objectives and how it relates to the community
4. Financial and background information
JOB DESCRIPTION: Peer Tutor/Mentor/Scholar
Must work a minimum of 10 hours per week from September 1, 2002 to May 31, 2003.
A. Tutor SSSP students in one or more of the following courses:
English, ESL, Mathematics,
Science, Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics, Economics,
World Civilizations, World
Humanities, and other Liberal Arts Core courses;
B. Mentor at risk SSSP students;
C. Provide or assist in ACT and Proficiency exams workshops;
D. Assist the SSSP in planning:
1. Cultural diversity program
2. Open House for admissions
3. New Student Orientations and recruitment of students
4. Career and Financial Aid Workshops
5. Other duties as described by the SSS program.
